I just purchased a gas powered air compressor and now I am having buyers remorse. The remorse is fueled by the fact that I am having a hard time getting info like an owners manual or operating manual or even advice. For this reason I am looking at you my fellow GJ'ers.
So this is the problem, the previous owner ( is a liar to begin with) who claims this unit is 6 or 7yrs old was lying because upon further inspection I found the manufacturers label.. I know I should have looked for it before I bought it. But I must admit the unit looked clean with very few signs of use, so I bought the lie. Hook line and sinker. So he started up the gas engine ( new carb according to him) and the 5hp Briggs and Stratton started, ran for a while and then when the previous owner tried to remove the choke the unit would not idle but die down. But seeing as he stated that the carb was recently changed he led me to believe that it was an adjustment needed on the carb. Now trying to find more info, I am running into a brick wall. I am searching Sears model number 919.721651 looking for some info and coming up empty handed. This unit was built by De Vilbiss. Look on the website and don't have any luck. I bought this unit because it was inexpensive $220.00 for a rather high scfm, which I can use for some small jobs around the house and small and short sandblasting jobs.
In conclusion, I think I got screwed, but trying to make the best of it. Now I have to check it inside to see the state of the tank. And so on and so on.
