Gas riser options

When looking at gas risers I see 2 options. Option one is a metal riser with compression fitting on the end to transition to IPS, while the other has a short piece of IPS and would require a coupling.

Question about these is. What is the better option? or is there one? Trying to get gas from my meter to my detached garage. will have shutoff before going to the garage so if problems arise I can shut off the garage and still use gas in the house.

I see no advantage to either.

If you look at them close enough you may find that they are identical other than one already has a stab coupling attached to it.

When I've been faced with this, I've been able to borrow fusion equipment from work and make my joints that way, but we have had very good success over the years with the elster permasert couplings.

Just match up your coupling size with your pipe and riser size and you should be fine. As you are aware, all of the small gas piping and fittings come in IPS (iron pipe size) and CTS (copper tube size) and they are not compatible with each other.
