gas unit heater electrical wiring

I'm in the process of planning heat for my attached garage. Electricity is quite cheap here, but using a NG unit heater would reduce my electrical load.

This leads to my question: are NG unit heaters hard wired to a 120V circuit, or do they have a male receptacle end? Is it jurisdiction dependent? I'm planning my wiring right now, so I could wire in a regular receptacle if needed. Thanks.

CEC requires a disconnecting means, usually a standard wall switch is mounted at approx. 6 feet above the floor, with a AC90(bx) tail that connects to the heater.A dedicated circuit is not mandatory in a garage, but not a bad idea in this case, also don't forget to run 18/2 LVT(tstat wire) to the thermostat location. You could meet the intent of the disconnect with a cord end and receptacle, but I wouldn't,you wouldn't want it accidentally unplugged during those balmy -30 Manitoba nights!

Exactly the information I was looking for. Thanks!

BX cable is my preferred option. I'm surprised that our 3 year old house met code by having 6/3 NMD running at knee level along both heat pumps in the basement, and 14/2 NMD running from the garburator to the switch under the kitchen sink. I guess it's the good/better/best thing. Too much of life is "good enough" whereas I prefer better, sometimes best. :) Thanks again.
