I normally use ultra but I see the new line of optimum. Am I correct to say that is the current top item in the line up?

Permetex is really pushing the quick set time but that was never a deciding issue for me. Back when RS was launched I dont think they even advertised it as being quick set. When it launched it was considerably more expensive than Ultra, maybe 2 or 3x?
RS is more stretchy (550% elongation vs 360%) and has more heat resistance than Ultra. RS is rated 450 F continuous, Ultra is 400F. Ive never had a problem with Right Stuff. RS has Ultra beat by the numbers. Never had that much problem with Ultra Black for that matter either.
Never had experience with Optimum so I cant say for sure much about it.
I sealed a diff cover with The Right Stuff.
Holy hell that was a chore to remove a few months later!
Ended BREAKING the cover (Ford 8.8 with fiberglass/plastic? cover)
When I rebuilt a GM 6.2 diesel... which was known to be leakers, The Right Stuff.
As far as I know, it's still going without leaks, nearly 15 years later.
Probably will use it on the Merc OM352 diesel for my Unimog when I tear that apart soon.

The Right Stuff has worked well for all my jobs. I have found that if you put something in the tip of the nozzle (I use a large clevis hair pin) and keep it in the fridge it lasts a long time. I have a tube now that is at least 6 months old and I used it the other day with no problems. It doesnt even harden inside the nozzle, just let it come to room temp and pull the pin. I am thinking I will get almost 100% out of the tube.
On a side note, does anybody use one of the Valco tube dispensers? How well does it work?

The Valco Cincinnati tube dispensers work great. I even have one for my tooth paste. I don't mark my gaskets with the Right Stuff I make my gaskets with the Right Stuff.

+1 Valco Tube Grip FTW!
Kinda pricey for toothpaste. I just drag the tube over the edge of the counter top to get the last bit.
Gotta order one for the rtv though.

Once you use one on your toothpaste you'll never go back.
The products that Three Bond makes, which Toyota and Honda spec, are really good.
The 1207b is pretty general purpose. I would say much better than the Permatex offerings. The Toyota part number for it is 00295-00103.

The ThreeBond has a great reputation and the Flat Rate Master did a video on it that explains his preference for it but I can't see what is so unique about it. Silicone chemistry is pretty well established and I can't see how it can be that much better than Permatex's or Loctite's products to justify it costing twice as much as the Permatex Grey or the Right Stuff.
I know one big difference is the solvent used.
The Three Bond 1207b uses acetone, and most of the Permatex products I have used use oxime.
