Gasoline storage containers

So I go to fill my 2.5 gallon polyproline gas " can" but find it has multiple cracks, almost through the plastic. Just what I need, a gas can which will eventually leak at will. Check all your (gas) cans for cracks .

I recently ordered and received a 20 Liter (5 Gallon ) Steel Gas Can from Amazon. It is genuine 100% Chineseium.

I have an assortment of different volume gas cans, however I still occasionally need a quick mix of lesser amounts. I have stored mixed gas over two yrs. in gallon sized Arizona Iced tea jugs in the shed w/ no deterioration whatsoever. Bonus-free. Bonus- no gov. design fails. Bonus-any separation, contamination is clearly visible. Bonus-unlike many approved containers, it’s a one hand dispense.

I use metal cans... I have 6 of these 2 1/2 gallon cans.

If you leave your plastic outside, in the sun, for a couple,of years it will fade and show surface cracking..stored inside, it will not in my experience. My chain saw can (plastic) is over 35 years old and going strong. Another plastic can spent about three years outside, and faded and began to show surface cracks. Neither has rusted.

I only buy plastic. Too many rusted gas cans. Some of my plastic ones are decades old.

Buy cheap get cheap, almost every outboard fuel tank I have ever seen is plastic. I think the issue is keeping an eye on them just like any piece of equipment.
