Has anyone ever created something along these lines! When you have friends over it can become an eating area etc. but in the colder months act as vehicle storage? Thoughts? Ideas?

I thought that was all garages. At least in this part of the country. I've been to more parties, dinners, events, et cetera in garages than I ever have in an actual hall. We even move the cars out in the winter and entertain in the garage.

I've eaten in my garage more than a few times. I don't know what kind of storage it would be for a car being an open structure, similar to a carport. If you have the space and feel the need, then go ahead. Not really any reasons not to make one. Post pics.

My garage is a multipurpose room. We do everything from eat dinner in it on a picnic table to fabrication and machine work, the latter is more me than the rest of the family, but the wife enjoys listening to music and having a few cocktails with me a few nights a week.

Go for it, post pics.

Where we were thinking of going with this was more gazebo-ish. So a tin roof (cheap, matches era etc) then having your pole supports, and walling the far side, and rear. It would leave two sides open for summer use. In the winter we would have fabric covering the open areas with tie downs for storage!
