Hi Fellas
I was recommended onto this forum from a guy on another Australian Mercedes forum I'm in when I asked the question, "What type of hoist I should put in my new garage?" [I've decided to go 4 post]
After having a look at the pics, some of the garage/workshops you guys have here are just sensational!
I currently have the base brickwork laid and infill slab poured on the 6x9 metre garage that's going up in my back yard.
Unfortunately we are in the middle of a housing construction boom and good trades are very hard to get. The carpenters[chippies] wouldn't nail together and stand up the stud frames without having a slab to work on, and bad weather delayed the pour until just before Christmas. Now everything has stopped until mid January when he chippies come back from holidays.
This garage is desperately needed because I have all of my tools [mig/arc welders, tool chests and air compressor] in storage about 2kms away which just drives me nuts! I also have an 87 Mercedes 300SL roadster in a friends garage 25kms away and an 86 and a 89 420SEL sedan sitting outside in the weather. With summer here thats not ideal
Our house is only small, with 2 bedrooms with no room to store stuff so after my garage is built I will be subcontracting the construction of a two storey extension. At the moment it is still going through building approval. This will give my wife a double garage for her car [SEL], with a HT room next to it, underneath a kitchen, meals, lounge and deck.
Finding this site couldn't have come at a better time. The ideas others have had are going to be much easire to impliment now, while construction is taking place. I guess the bank account will take a real hit over the next six months.
