GDO battery back up options?

Had a power outage due to storms this morning after I left for work - nothing life threatening, just some rain overnight and moderate wind. Wife was able to open the door and get going but it was a hassle. I have a jackshaft opener in the other building with battery backup. Am just wondering about openers with battery back up. The standard opener still works ok. Are they those style openers with battery backup? This happens so infrequently I may put this off for a while but as we get older this would be a nice thing to have and thinking about options.

My understanding is the battery backup units have DC motors. With a normal AC unit you will need a very large UPS to feed it

The are several conventional garage door opener that you can purchase with battery backup now.

Chamberlain and Genie have them

Pretty sure many of the openers (even without battery backup) have been using DC motors for awhile now

These openers are about 18 years old and almost certain the motors are AC. That means large start up currents so would need an oversize UPS.

You were correct at first. I am considering replacing the opener. I was just adding a comment about the current openers since others brought up the issue of the type of motors.

Never owned a gdo, these doesn’t have a bypass mechanically so you can lift the door manually in case of power outage?
