Ge Motor Help

I recently picked up a GE ¼ HP reversible motor to use for small jobs around the shop. I noticed the cord was removed but figured that wasn’t a big deal. Famous last words! Upon removing the rear plate it appears that someone had made some modifications that are beyond my “knowledge base.” What do I need to do to make this a usable motor? All I want to do is be able to plug it in and reverse the rotation if necessary.

The motor number is 5XBG00GB.

Any help would be great appreciated!

Try #4 + Yellow and a lead. And #1 + Blue and a lead, add a ground wire also, should spin counter clock wise. You can see the wire numbers on the case and the wire posts.

Looks like someone extended the wires,from what I'm thinking you need to figure what direction you want it to go and then need to add a switch like a 4 way so you can flip the switch to change directions.

Looks like the power cord goes to those screw terminals. Then the yellow/blue wires attach to the spade connectors on the screw terminals. Swapping the blue/yellow wires will reverse the motor.

If I take the cord shown and connect the black wire on the cord to the black wire inside the motor (screw terminal) and connect the white wire on the cord to the red wire inside the motor (screw terminal) and connect the green wire on the cord to the motor case it should "fire up?"

What about the rest of the wires coming of the motor? Do I have to keep them from touching each other? Will any of them be "hot?"

The red terminal has a (4) on it, and yes any unused wire needs to be taped up.
