Anybody have any experience with GE M26 medium voltage switchgear for Magne-blast draw out circuit breakers?

Medium Voltage? Thats a whole different ball game.....

480 V MCC's...yea...I have lots of experience....but medium voltage?....your talking walk in cabinets....and you don't go near it unless you are certified for medium voltage......

Nasty stuff.....

Thanks. I'm looking for the original insulating compound used in the covers where the bus connects to the primary disconnects. I work with MV, but cannot seem to find any info on this. My switchgear manual list the compound as GE D50H49, but I can't find any info on that either. I sent an email to GE hoping to get a suitable replacement, but we'll see.

My company does testing and maintenance of 5 KV and 15 KV G.E. Magnablast breakers. I know the compound you are talking about, but I'm not sure what is used to replace it. I've never had to replace the compound in these breaker bottles. But I do know of insulating compounds made by G&W Electric that we use frequently for re-pouring high voltage pothead cable terminations. What we use mostly is called No-Void A. You mean the connections like in the attached picture of some 5 kV gear I redid the bus work on?

If so, I get these insulating boots from Phoenix Manufacturing in Ontario, www.phnxmfg.com. Usually they are custom made to the dimensions you specify, a custom mold can be made to pretty much anything you can draw. I use them on 5 kV and 15 kV gear all the time. A good way to eliminate those potted connections you are referring to, just slip the boot over the bare connection and it is insulated to +25 kV (they rate them for 50 kV I beleive).
