just got a set of those swivel head ratchets from gearwrench through sears. just curious, does sears give you a new one if the old one breaks or do they make me go through gearwrench to get a new one or give me a pre rebuilt replacement one?

i noticed they don't sell them individually at sears. only in sets.

I've heard different stories, that they make you send them out to gearwrench, others say that they exchange them in the store. I get mine @ lowes, but save the pkg/tray on the back it says return to place of purchase. Now if they give you the B.S. Excuse that they make you send them back show them the pkg. They are an authorized dealer.
PS my sears sell them individually, aswell as stubby gearwrenches.hope that helps.

I don't know about ratchets, but when I have busted a gearwrench ratcheting combination wrench, I returned it to Sears no problem. You can also return them to Advance Auto Parts as they carry Gearwrench too if they are closer to you.

I sent in some extensions and universals to GearWrench one time. When I called in to check up on them, the secretary on the phone said, "don't you EVER send us anymore tools again! We are not a store." :shocking:

Gearwrench has always provided excellent warranty service the couple of times I've needed it. I would just call them at the 1800 number on their website. They'll mail you a replacement within a week or so, just make sure you have the part number to give them.

And I bet they don't want the old tools back do they? God forbid if those secretaries had to deal with some broken grimy tools. The tools I sent in were brand new and never used - I just didn't like the magnetic stem feature they had.

I would have given you 1/2 the going price for them, could have just sold them to me.

That, or goto an auto parts store that carries KD, I have not needed warranty replacement yet, but I eventually see, I'm sure.

Recently bought some Gearwrenches from Sears and I asked the same question about warranty and was told that they will replace them from in-store stock (if they have it) no receipt needed.
