A VR6 VW engine. The baddest motor VW ever made, especially when a turbo is added to the mix......

Vr6 engine is a narrow angle v6 engine that has 1 cylinder head and not 2.This engine is still produce till this day.Originally tested in the mark 2 golf vr6 proved to be a little too heavy for the hot hatch.It ended up being installed in 92 into vw corrado,passat,eurovan.Then in 93 with the arrival of the mark 3 jetta and golf the gti and glx versions also had the vr6 engine.This old engine had a displacement of 2.8 liters wit the european version being 2.9 the narrow angle between the cylinders was only about 15 degrees.The current vr6 has been updated with 3.2 liters and the most recent version having 3.6liters.Also the angle is now only 10 degrees. Also is 2002 vr6 engine got an extra 12 valves squeezed into the head.Oldengine was 12v and the new engine has till this day 24v.Regardless These engines wether they be 12v or 24v have that killer distinct sound!!!That i personally love.Just like the straight 5 cylinder from audi.Pure awesomeness!!!


Also vw made a number of these engine that were installed into ford transit vans back in the day!

Local Napa store has a barstool made out of an automatic transmission at the counter. It's sitting bell housing end down (wide base) and a seat mounted at the other end. Painted blue. Not particularly elegant but pretty creative I thought.

have that killer distinct sound!!!That i personally love.Just like the straight 5 cylinder from audi.Pure awesomeness!!!

Just so happens that I also have a 2007 Jetta with a 2.5L 5 cyl and have an aftermarket stg 2 turbo on it. It has a sound very reminiscent of the VR6...and it do boogie!
