Assuming these are what you're looking at...
https://www.tooltopia.com/GearWrench-86126.aspx

I've got the Gearwrench set above and a few Matco's (Kabo's), I prefer the Matco wrenches as they fit better on fasteners IMO. Either one can mar up bolt heads if they are not square on the hex and slip off, but the Gearwrench seem to be more susceptible to it.

If they made these in 12pt instead they'd be better IMO. Spline is the current fad for whatever reason, doesnt impress me.

Yes sir those are the ones and that’s what I was worried about. I thought the same thing if they made um just 12 point I wouldn’t be so hesitant. They make the none flexheads 12 point but would definitely like the flex. Any other suggestion in that $200 price range. Would like flexhead on one end and just regular box on the other

I dont know who all makes a similar wrench other then the Gearwrench & Matco, Kabo does rebrand for some others like Mountain & Carlyle but long, double box end flex head wrenches are most of what others offer. Not really going to get away from spline in these style wrenches as much as I dont like it. They are darn handy IMO.

Matco is a good bet quality wise, but a bit more spendy. Ebay may be a place to find some at a better price.

Also, check out the "tool truck equivalent thread", it may have more insight on who has this style of wrench. the ones in the links are similar but they dont have the fixed zero box end (I use that often). Both are Kabo rebrands from what I know.

I have the non flex head GW XL set with the 12 point ends. They work very nice and are probably my favorite wrenches to use.

If you're keen on having a flex head, I know Tekton makes a set of XL flex head wrenches that are 6 point. I have a set of standard length non locking flex head wrenches and I'm not a big fan of them, so I never looked too close at buying the XL flexes. Problem I find with them is because they don't lock they have a high tendency to cam out.

I have these in SAE and metric. They work great for what they are meant for, but I would prefer regular 6 or 12 point over these. I find they do grab bolt heads well, but my biggest gripe with them is that it takes quite a few degrees to engage the fastener. What this does is when your using the ratcheting end, you have probably a 10 degree angle that you have to pull the wrench back before the ratchet mechanism will start moving.

I'm not sure what other options are available for wrenches but I would suggest finding a 6 or 12 point.

ALSO, about 50% of my wrenches are HEAVILY curved, I talked to Gearwrench about it but it was a really strung out process to claim warranty so I just left it.

To add to this, I would be willing to sell my sets if you are interested. Not to spam this thread.

I would skip gearwrench on these and keep looking .
the mountain not bad besides spline drive although not worst spline drive .

would say locking flex is useful on these as helps you keep some force onto the fastener reducing cam off .
