I just ordered the GearWrench 44pc long pattern wrenches off ebay at a deal 177$ on the tool truck they wanted over 325$ for them but after I paid I started doing alil more research on them I know I should have done it before I bought them****♂️****♂️but anyways long story short I bought them and started doing alil research and I found that some people got some that was real wavy some that was machined terrible some that was bent you name it they received it my question is what are the chances of this happening to me? I tried to get the guy to cancel the order but he hasn't read my messages and has shipped already what if I do end up getting wrenches with quality control issues? Will GearWrench replace them?

Surely if they're defective then you can return them??

You're worry about nothing imo.

I have the smaller set of six points and they were as good as you could expect for the price. If they aren't up to your standards you'll probably be best off returning them. I haven't dealt with Apex specifically of Gearwrench but when an Armstrong ratchet of mine broke I was told that they do not provide warranty on any of their tools - this was before Armstrong was shuttered.

It'll probably depend on who you talk to, what time of day it is, the phase of the moon... It's a crapshoot calling customer service.

They have 4.3/5 stars on Amazon.com reviews, so I'm not sure there's much to worry about. Any product is going to have negative reviews in some shape or form. Especially when you consider that most people are going to be a lot more motivated to leave a review if they have issues and are angry versus happy customers leaving good reviews.

I'd also assume your eBay seller (unless he's some random Joe Blow) has a return policy, worst case scenario. Might require paying return shipping, but if all else fails and you're really not happy with them, at least you'll get your money back. However based on reviews I definitely wouldn't call them low quality of having QC issues.

I don't own these specifically, but I have full sets of the GearWrench ratcheting wrenches, plus the metric XL ratcheting wrenches, and quality on all have been great. No complaints.

If you buy it off Amazon, you've got 30 days to return it if it is defective. Every now and then you get a dud and those who get them will complain about them under the reviews. As for warrantying Gearwrench, find a local authorized dealer who is willing to help you. Dealing with GW directly is a waste of time judging by all the posts on this forum claiming a turn around time of weeks.

I've warrantied a ratcheting wrench with Gearwrench (it was bent and it came that way) and it was from a set that my dad bought from Sears years ago (so no receipt) and though they gave me the "this is a courtesy and we will replace it this one time" spiel, they sent me the new wrench for free. Again, they are no paragons of customer service but I suspect that they will make it right. I wouldn't worry about it!

I got a set for $166 off of Amazon a couple of weeks ago. My set looks good but was missing a 12mm but had 2 13mm wrenches. I called gearwrench and they sent me one in the mail no questions asked.

Gearwrench should do better in their QC.
Mixing 12mm with 13mm seems an understandable mistake.

I bought a 1/2 deep impact socket set recently. When opening the brand new shrink wrapped package, the 14mm socket is missing, how could any one miss that? With an obvious slot staring right at you.

I asked the seller to send replacement, instead of contacting GW.

If they would have sent me 2 12mm I might not have even called them.
You might want to reconsider that. Standard bolt head sizes are:

M4: 7mm
M5:8mm
M6:10mm
M7 (DIN only):11mm
M8: 13mm (12mm for JIS)
M10:16mm (ISO),17mm (DIN), 14mm (JIS)
M12:18mm (ISO),19mm (DIN), 17mm (JIS)

I bought that set and returned it. It had a bunch of problems. You may have seen my post in another thread on GJ. But apparently others did not have the issues that I had. I think that older / earlier sets may have been Taiwan and were OK. The set I got was China. Not really sure if that was the cause. But I had bent, wavy, missing chrome, and one that had a smooshed out of round box end.

I don't know maybe it was bad luck. I decided they were just not what I was after quality wise even if they would have warrantied them. Actually I think I tried to get them warrantied and they wanted to swap the whole set. I figured I would just get more of the same.

I don't remember exactly but I do know the set I got was pretty bad. I hope you have better luck.

I'd probably check with the sells prior to purchase whether the wrenches were Taiwan or China, I only purchase GW product if its Taiwan. That rule has served me well with the GW hand tools I have, I ain't going to bother with warranty stress so I want to increase the odds of good tools before purchase.
