Gearwrench 53" toolbox

I've got a chance to make a trade for a Gearwrench 53" box but I can't find much about it online anywhere, does anyone have any experience with one that would be willing to share their thoughts? It's this box in particular. I would be trading this Matco cart for it. My box is in great shape with the exception of scratches and paint wear from use and the gearwrench is in like new shape. I need more space which is the reason for the possible trade but I need help figuring out if its worth it or not please. I've had the intent of selling mine to buy a HF 44" but this was offered to me today.

Looks like the Gear Wrench box and your cart are pretty close together as far as retail cost.

I know nothing of these gear wrench boxes and what their quality level is like, but you should be able to see it first hand.

Ultimately no one can tell you if its 'worth it' or not. It's your box, you have to decide for yourself.

Have you seen the Gearwrench one in person? How does it look and feel? Drawers open and close evenly? Nice slides?

They claim to use heavy duty steel but the pictures make it look pretty cheap. That said I've seen a few of them around online or other mechanics instagram pages so they're out there, just less common. I think it would probably suit you fine, after all some kid at my shop has been rolling around one of the really cheap husky boxes and while it looks like its about to fall apart, hes never complained.

I should have added that the guy wanting to trade is about 2 hours away so it would likely be a meet in the middle to make a switch type situation so I don't have the ability to actually see it in person unfortunately and I don't want to waste his time or mine by meeting and deciding I don't like it due to build quality. It's just for home use so I'm sure it will suit me fine and I could always sell it later if I decide I don't like it but I figured I would ask here to see if if anyone had any knowledge of them first.

I would pass on the Gearwrench box. It has too many large drawers which aren’t very useful. The Matco cart you have sells for about $700-$800 around my area. I would wait around for a better deal.

I haven't seen that particular box in person, but the tool store I usually go to had a GW mobile work station which I played around with. Cool idea, but it just seemed a bit tacky in terms of overall build quality. There are loads of Made in China boxes out there. If I were you, I'd keep the cart and save up the money for a HF or big used tool truck box. The only tool boxes worth getting used are high end ones where the depreciation cancels out the high mark up.
