They have't been delievered yet, but Advance Auto has 8-piece reversible Gearwrench wrench sets on sale for $32 bucks. I think with tax I paid $70 for both metric and SAE sets, free shipping too. I've had pretty good luck with Gearwrench stuff.

That's a good deal on the reversible style. Advance typically has some gear wrench set at half off; I picked a set of these up several years ago during a similar sale.

While you can't use other discount codes, you can use SpeedPerks Rewards if you have any.

I bought the metric and standard sets of these from Advance a year or two ago. I think the price was around the same as it is now. They're absolutely good for the money. Both sets have the sizes I use most- unlike some of the sets you'll find with Husky, Harbor Freight, etc. The stuff I work on is mainly 20+ year old American stuff and Japanese stuff that's anywhere from 20 years old to new. If you're working on German stuff or newer American stuff, and you need a 16mm or an 18mm, you'll need to look for another set. Unfortunately, any other set of reversible ratcheting wrenches is going to be a bunch more expensive. For $33 a set, these wrenches are totally usable. One thing to note, the ratcheting mechanisms aren't going to be perfect- the 14mm wrench in my set wasn't great initially. It would bind or reverse at first, but it's working fine after a bit of use. I know some guys on this forum would throw a fit about a small issue like that, but I'm not one of them. I buy what I can afford, and I have no problem with tools that are good but not perfect, especially if they're affordable.

Looks like they are 20% off the Amazon price so a good deal but not stellar.

I checked and the COO is China. If it were Taiwan I would say its a great deal. Thats just my view though.

Edit: I only checked the Metric set. The SAE set is closer to 40% off the Amazon price.

I am going to hold out for the Tractor Supply 32 piece Gearwrench 70032 set. Have to flip them over as they don't have the lever.

$69.99 sale -- GearWrench 32-Piece Ratcheting Wrench Set, 70032
Starts Tuesday 24th.

I have the Craftsman style of these and one thing I have noticed is that the 0 degree offset or flatness of the wrenches (needed so you can ratchet in both directions) can cause some interference issues. The reversible ones usually have a 15 degree offset.

Picked up a set at an out of the way store. Used a $10 speed perks and a $20 sylvania rebate gift card so paid less than $5 for them. Guy ringing them up joked that he was going to be paying me by the time we were done.

I ended up ordering both sets and received them Monday. Unfortunately one of the sets they sent is missing one of the wrenches. I'll give you one guess on which one went missing... The 10mm.
I emailed them right away but didn't hear back so I called them today. They said they were going to ship me a new set. I asked why they couldn't just ship me the single missing piece to save themselves the cost of shipping a bigger box plus return shipping. She told me I could keep the kit with the missing piece so I don't have to worry about boxing it and sending it back! Worked out well for me.

Here’s a couple of Gearwrench flex head options for 7 piece sets for anyone that still has a Sears nearby.

Any thoughts or comments or reliability about this style of wrench?

Thanks

I didn't like mine at all. They flexed when they shouldn't have and busted my knuckles. Purchased the Craftsman locking flex ratcheting set and those have worked well. Recently purchased the listed Gearwrench 8pc and they are pretty decent for most tasks, but boy do those locking flex heads come in handy in really funky places on an engine!

I had a set of those flex head ratchets. I didn't like them so I got a locking flex head set instead.

To add the 16 and 18 reversible. you will have to spend another $40.
I ordered one of these sets a few years back (or maybe more?) and it came with an 18mm instead of a 19mm

18mm is pretty much useless to me, but 19mm would be very helpful. Looks like I can buy a single 19mm for about $18 or just buy an entire new set for $33.
