I'm a frugal diyer that survived 50 years + with regular combo wrenches and have no lust for ratcheting wrenches. When I bought in to all the hype here, I decided to buy one set only of ratcheting wrenches. Barring their ratchet action, I felt the offset gearwrences would duplicate my regular combo wrenches. I chose the flex ones with the idea that they "might" fill a niche (flex abiliity) in some tight situation that no other wrench would work.
That situation came up a few months ago on a difficult to access belt tensioner. Otherwise, they come out of the tool box just a few times a year so they don't get depressed seeing the other wrenches getting used more.
My regular combo wrenches and ratcheting sockets get most work done, but again, I'm purely an occasional shade tree diyer.
