I may have a bad batch. I have all 3 sets the metric, and standard long ball ends, and the torx.

The torx have been great (have to use them on hex fasteners the ball ends wont take out).

The ball end sets both purchased months apart from 2 different stores, seem to be either soft or sized wrong. Ive only taken out a few dozen fasteners with both sets combined and they seem to strip out almost every fastener. They fit tight as soon as i put some torque on them they just seem to slip. I first thought it was the fasteners. I work on quite a bit of MTD brand equipment (not the highest grade of lawn care products by far. But it has happend on AYP built machines, VW, even home appliances. On the places i can get into without the long shank other ball ends work fine.

Anyone else had similar experience? Should I look into VIM or another brand? or is it because the shank length maybe?

Ball ends have always been a compromise and you should not expect full engagement of the ball end versus a straight shank design.

I have the long gearwrench torx and metric allen ball sockets and both are fine. The thing to remember is long ball end hex sockets are not meant for torque. They are a specialty tool that I only use to get into restricted access fasteners. They aren't an everyday use item for breaking stubborn bolts loose. The gearwrench aren't snap on quality but as long as they are used with a little care they are fine.

Something is wrong with my metic set at the very least. I was going through an old top chest i keep rarely used tools in. I dont use t handles to much after i invested in bit sockets. Pulled an old craftsman ball 6mm hex out, broke all 4 bolts loose with no issue at all.
