I did a little searching on this already. Sounds like for the non pro like myself the gearwrench non ratchet combos are alright. The are priced at $75 right now at my local Menards and with the 15 percent off may not be a bad buy. I might buy both sae and metric. Would you pull the trigger or look at something else? I definitely dont need tool truck quality for my usage.......thx!

The gw combos are real nice, but only if they're nos Taiwan. The Chinese ones are junk.

I've have the Gearwrench combo wrench non ratcheting set about 3 years. The finish has held up great and I haven't broken one yet. I don't use them professionally though. They are a giant leap better then the old USA combo craftsman I replaced, those are junk. The gearwrench is a long pattern wrench, at least the ones I have are so keep that in mind for clearance issues.

I would recommend Kobalt taiwan wrenches if you are considering these. I think they are nicer side by side than the GW taiwan, and the china it's no comparison.

Comparing what I have side by side I would buy in this order Kobalt taiwan > CM RP USA > GW Taiwan > any brand china.

I went to check out the kobalts today. I will say Lowes sure has a nice display and selection. The packaging for their wrenches has COO China. I think that may be different than what some of you thought...check out the awfully large 2mm :)
