I figured I'd complete my old 72t gearwrench ratcheting wrench set up to 32mm (previous had up to 22mm)before they are completely gone as they've been discontinued several years ago for the 90t versions. I just got my 24mm wrench and it has the newer 90t style stamping but is clearly the 72t style wrench.

I'm thinking more cost cutting than oddity.

By omitting the MM stamps on the size marking, Gearwrench might have reduced costs or production time.

Does the 25mm wrench have a part number on the reverse side or did you get it from a big box type store?

I thought the 90 tooth series ratcheting wrenches were only released a year or two ago from Gearwrench :dunno:

That's quite the ratcheting wrench set going up to 32 mm.

I think you'd expect the company to use the current logo so, not really an oddity.

Ergonomics 101 would suggest that the units are not needed and actually make it harder to read the size but I assume you meant the style and not specifically the lack of units.

Digging into this a little further, I originally thought they discontinued the 72t common size combination wrenches when they introduced the 90t ones. The sizes above 1 1/4 and 25mm are still manufactured in 72t. Right now the smaller sizes are discontinued/replaced by their 90t counterpart which are longer, thicker and has anti-slip open jaw.

I want the 72t wrenches as they match my old Mastercraft Maximum set which are stamped Gearwrench on one side so I would have consistent sizing and design. I have sockets up to 1 1/4 and 32mm and figured I'd match my wrenches. Current Maximum wrenches are only stamped Maximum and come in 90t but still use the old wrench design. They also don't come in the bigger sizes.

So looking at the date codes on the wrenches:
Original 30pc set - N - 2015 - Old Logo
1 1/16 - R - 2019- Old Logo
24mm - U - 2022 - New Logo
25mm - 0 - 2016 - Old Logo
27mm - V - 2023 - Old Logo
30mm - V - 2023 - Old Logo
32mm - P - 2017 - Old Logo

Still waiting for my 9mm, 20mm and 1 1/4 wrenches to arrive in the mail. I know U is 2022 as I recently picked up a Mastercraft Maximum 17" 1/2 breaker bar that is stamped U with a sticker on the tag of 1/30/22.

So it would seem my 24mm has the newer design since its within the updated wrench sizes. All the wrenches have had the new logo on the sticker tag.
