I am assuming that this is extremely poor QC and not a design...unless Gearwrench Double-X owners can confirm. I just picked up a pair of the GW double-x pliers from AdvanceAuto today and they are not even flat when i lay then down??

First picture is of them just laying flat on the table, you can see how the entire thing tilts to the other side...

Second picture is me holding the nose flat on the table and you can see how warped the handle is!

WTF!!:shocking:

I've got the double X in the bentnose/striaght set, as well as the 3 piece hose pliers. None look anything like that, probably a defect.

I just picked up the 6pc Screwdriver set and about half of the blades were crooked ;(. I returned the set within 30 minutes and doubt I'll pay attention to anything GW for a while.

I have the offset reversable ratchet combo wrenches, some sockets and ratchets which I am very happy with, but for the price point they should have better QC.

I've just opened up a brand new set of double-x hose-grip pliers thus

http://www.tradesmanschoice.com/catalog/GearWrench/82107.html

and laid them down on a flat surface. They lie perfectly flat. So I guess you've got a defective set - you should return them for a refund or get a replacement set.

Best Regards,
Mark.

I checked mine and they lay flat. I have the straight double x and bent double x. I am amazed how much i use them since I got them.

I have the napa versions from Cripe ($12 plus shipping) they aren't warped and lay flat. I say take them back and compare them to another set at Advance to see if they got a bad lot. Are they PRC or Taiwan made? Sad to see Gearwrench's quality decline after a fast expansion and moving production from Taiwan to the PRC.:(

I went back to advance and exchanged them... the new ones are slightly better, but still are not perfectly flat. Probably just being **** at this point...i'm just going to keep them.

Both sets have been made in China.

I also got some Craftsman Pro beak jaw adjustable wrenches today (made in USA)...that was another QC fail... going to have to exchange these too...but that is a story for another thread...

I've handled a few Gearwrench pliers at Advanced Auto Parts and wasn't impressed at all. They all seemed out of true. Jaws didn't line up right, very wobbly, etc.
