They can be handy but, they require a little more space for clearance around the fastener than a regular wrench, and there's no 14 or 15mm sizes.

it's too bad you missed the 1/2 off gearwrench sale at Sears. $15 for 8 sizes in a reversible wrench is not a bad deal. They are bigger, and there is no 14mm.

Don't worry - (9X11MM, 14X15MM) and (20X21MM, 22X24MM) versions will be out in September.

I purchased the Gearwrench metric Quadbox. Purchased from ACE today as they had 20% off anything that fit it their bag day. Normally $29.99 so my price ended up being $23.99 + tax. Not too bad. It has the ACE logo on them too but still Gearwrench.

I got the SAE set for super cheap at Sears - less than $10 if I recall. Used one for toilet flange bolts. They work nicely.

I was really attracted to this gadget of a wrench. Now with the full ranges of sizes, even better. Then I thought about what advantage this wrench really provide ... Humm ... The height is quite high. Although lower than my 1/4" ratchet and socket, it cannot replace a thin walled box wrench's ability to work in tight space. Weight and space, my 1/4" ratchet and 8 sockets is lower. In the end, I decides not to get it. Plenty of more useful tools to buy. Not at the stage of collecting gadget unique tools, yet.

I figured that these would not be appropriate for automotive use, especially as the smaller sizes on either end will likely cause clearance issues (No.1 and No.3 in drawing).

I was in AutoZone today. I noticed that they are selling a 2 piece "Quadbox" wrench set under their Duralast brand. The two wrenches are also made in Taiwan like the Gearwrench Quadbox wrenches.

However, the sizes included on the Duralast 2 wrenches are slightly different than on the Gearwrench versions. Here are the sizes on the Duralast wrenches:
8mm x 10mm, 12mm x 13mm, 14mm x 17mm, 18mm x 19mm.

The Craftsman and Gearwrench 2 piece wrench sets include the following sizes:
8mm x 10mm, 12mm x 13mm, 16mm x 17mm, 18mm x 19mm.

I've got both the standard and metric. Very handy for keeping in the toolbelt. They have their purpose. I keep a set right on a hook above the workbench as well. Excellent when you have several fastener sizes that are all close in size. It helps keep the work area a little neater.
