I went to the Sears at 02895 and they had a bunch of Gearwrench and Cman ratcheting wrench sets in the clearance section. Most were China, these were Taiwan. I picked up the 8 piece metric set for $34.93. They are Gearwrench set #44003.

I believe you are right. Is the 20 piece set Chinese? I prefer Taiwan.

all the 20pc sets in my local stores where china, they seem to move pretty fast last time when it was $50 with a points back offer so finding old stock might be harder with those sets.

I am normally 100% Made in USA tool snob (I am guessing I am not alone here), but I bought the 20-piece set from Sears last summer, giving me one 10-piece set in metric and standard--one for the old BMW and one for the old Sunbeam to throw in the trunk.

Mine were Chinese made and seem okay for the price. Who knows how long the pawls and the ratchet teeth will last. Surely, in a pinch, on the road, they should be fine. But not as an everyday tool that gets used hard.
