Get the 120XP's. You can get them for about $80 shipped from tooldiscounter (good source for tools, and almost always the best price unless shipping kills it).

I've used some dual 80's, the matco 88T, and the gearwrench 120XP's just are divine. Used a cheater bar on that 1/2 a lot for when I can't get a breaker bar in...

Gearwrench is an excellent choice for a quality durable product that won't break the bank.

There are currently three variations available that I would recommend to you, the 60 tooth, 84 tooth, and the 120 xp series.

Gearwrench also makes a 45 tooth model with quick release but, I'm not impressed with those.

I feel the 60 tooth models are the best and the 84 and 120xp are overkill but, I still have them.

If you're looking at the basic all steel handled 3 ratchet set, in 1/4, 3/8 and 1/2 inch drive, use part number 81206 for the 60 tooth set, 81206F for the 84 tooth set, and 81206P for the 120xp series ratchets.
shop around because some places' prices are insane. Amazon is ok, tooltopia is good and trident supply (see hot deals thread) had a great father's day promotion on Gearwench. shop around for the best deal and good luck in your quest .

I love my Gearwrenches!
You can usually find the best deals at AdvanceAuto. Use the cupon codes. $10 off $30 is great for single purchases...

I love my Gearwrench 60 tooth. I have the standard set and the flex set and they haven't failed me yet. Used professionally

the 60T and 120T are rated at 180% of ASME torque which for a 3/8 drive ratchet 180% I believe is around 270 ft-lbs (not sure for 1/2 or 1/4 drive). The 84T are 190% of ASME torque, so slightly stronger.

If you wind up liking these, you might find this set to be a nice gift as well. They are 72t and get into some pretty crazy spots that a normal flex ratchet sometimes cannot. Don't let the low price fool you, they are solid and well made.

I have a few gearwrench ratchets. The two that came from cripe and the 120 xp. I like them all, but i am still skeptical about the strength of them but they are nice.

I really like the Gearwrench ratchets but I think if I was just going to get a vanilla non-flex head I would go with the Bahco dual 80s.

Also why the hell doesn't Gearwrench offer a 1/2" drive flex head comfort grip???
