It appears Gearwrench entered the world of RBRT with their version of Bidirectional Hex bit sockets in SAE & Metric across 1/4, 3/8, and 1/2 drive sizes.

Linked above is their master set containing the whole enchilada of hex offerings.

I found the smaller 1/4 and 3/8 drive sets on Amazon but, only a place holder listed as unavailable.. Maybe it's too new.

The Gearwrench stuff is priced significantly cheaper than the Gripedge versions. it might be too good to be true but, time will tell if it's worth a gamble. Product of Vietnam, finished in mainland China.

I know the Gripedge stuff is outstanding but, I also think it's kind of pricy and would like to see a little competition if it works.

Interesting that GW will offer a lifetime warranty these bit sockets, but won't any of their others anymore. I'll still recommend GripEdges over others.

I suspect the Husky Bite sockets and wrenches at Home Depot are made by Apex, GW's parent company. I know they make other tools for HD.

I wonder if this is just an expanded and GW branded version.

Unlikely, all GripEdge is made in Taiwan

GripEdge isn't unioque because they came out with rounded hex and torx bit sockets. That happens every couple years from someone.
They're unique because.... they work. And that working design is patented.

GW making ones is not out of place in the world of brands rolling out something like this every few years. It will catch on if they work amazingly and only if they work amazingly. Considering their last effort with the Bolt Biter sockets they rolled out and now are being discontinued pretty much everywhere, I'm not going to hold my breath.

And the gearwrench "version" is made where? I'm betting gripedge has a patent on their design and the gearwrench is too similar not to fall under it.

The design looks to be of a similar concept but the profile is somewhat different and the machining seems more crude.

I have these in my cart - to try and get the brutal 10mm allen head drain plug out of my front diff.

I believe the patent, for what it was worth, expired when grip edge got the rights back to market their version of anti-slip. As far as I know, grip edge has no manufacturing.

Confusing exclusive with patent here. Patents don't expire after 2-3 years. Typically 18.
Grip Edge isn't the name of the factory of course, but there's basically a single factory in Taiwan they're making their patent out of. And these aint from it

I could not find any CoO on the gearwrench website. I figured SATA was making these for Gripedge, much like the Matco turbo bits that were an exclusive but a few to several years later its everywhere.
