Not my first choice in sockets, OK I guess, usually I only buy the ratcheting wrenches.

Reg price from most vendors for the GearWrench 80702 set is $40, so good, but not crazy good price. Lifetime warranty I think, but might require paying shipping and sending the part off.

Personally I would stick with Craftsman, cheaper when on sale, and super easy returns.

Never used them. I could not beat the set I bought from Craftsman.

It was a 145 piece set with all 6 point sockets, ratchets, and a few wrenches. No garbage! It was great!

I bought that same Craftsman set on sale a year or so ago for $80 after all the coupons etc. Can't beat that deal with a stick. OTOH a dozen or more of the sockets are going back to Sears for replace over funky chrome issues, but I expect no problems with the exchange (which is a big part of buying Craftsman).

I just bought from NAPA a 10pc 12pt deep SAE and 10pc 12pt deep Metric socket sets for $8.71 each, I should of bought a few more, for that price I couldn't pass it up. I've used the 7/8" on mf F250 Super Duty to torque the lug nuts to 148ft.lbs and had no problems.

Hello

I found this set on ebay and was wondering if anyone has any expericance with these or a set like it. Do they hold up pretty good?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=360308500923&category=29527&_trksid=p5197.c0.m619

Thanks in advance

To answer your question, there is nothing wrong with these sockets. I have several sets of Gearwrench sockets and they are good value for the money. I prefer them to the new Sears Craftsman, but prefer the older Craftsman and other American made sockets. These are made in Asia, if that makes any difference to you.

Can anyone provide a link on this set? I've been looking for a set with all 6 point, but haven't been able to find one.

Is that the sale price this week/month for the gearwrench 1/2" sockets?? Or is it just a clearance in your area?

I just bought the 10pc 12pt deep metric set from advance auto for like $25...

Back to the original question, I have that set. in fact I think I got it from the same seller as is linked. Gearwrench sockets are strong and well made. I especially like the knurling they put at the base of their metric sockets. They also have great customer support.
That set is Gearwrench's 80702 without the nice blue storage rail. the set with rail runs $38 and change at tooltopia.com

Oh yes...the original topic. I actually have that same set from that same ebay seller! I didnt need the socket rail so it was a good deal all in all. The quality does seem very good compared to craftsman - and i havent had any problems with mine yet. However, the CMan ones are about twice as heavy... not sure if that is a good thing or bad thing?

I have the GW SAE & Metric deep socket sets. If you're patient you can find them online for about $20 a set. Any dealer selling GW should honor the warranty.

I also bought that exact set off that seller. I haven't used them too much, but the finish is excellent. I haven't found any flaws. The stamping is very crisp and as Fedwrench said, they have a nice knurled ring around the base.

I'm definitely satisfied for $24 shipped. I bought them b/c 6pt 1/2" drive sockets aren't that common. I strongly prefer 6pt.

The sockets I have look nice and the chrome has held up well. I'd say they're a good socket set for the money. To be honest, I'd rather have an old usa made set of something, but a six point set is hard to find for that price and for something made overseas, they're pretty darn tough.

I sw them on the self and brought them to the counter and asked what's the price, the guy checked and said $8.71, I said "I'll take them". I didn't check the flyer.

I bought a set of gearwrench sockets and ratchet from napa on a blowout sale for $10. I love the ratchet and like the sockets more than craftsman. Warranty is an issue, but for $10 I wasnt going to complain. Ive only broken a few 3/8 sockets in my life that I didnt put on an impact and most of those had long ratchets or cheaters on them. Im not going to break them with the ratchet included in the set. Napa said I can warranty it there but we'll see how that goes. Its a great little set to keep in the house for small repairs.

I have these same ones... "GEARWRENCH" Also bought from ebay.
They are tough with a nice chrome finish.
One day we were rotating tires on my friend's lexus he was in my garage and couldent find my 21 impact socket so he grabbed one of these and threw it on the ir 2135ti.
I came back out into the garage and he was putting the wheels back on.
It was to late he already used it on the impact gun. Gr sockect was as good as new still...The part where the impact drive goes in shows it's been on a impact after but still they dident break! Next time I'll make sure he use my impact sockets. But yeah for the money they good! Least in my book :)

Our local NAPA stores have been blowing those sets out for quite awhile for $10. I've bought and sold a bunch of them.
