Been looking for a decent socket set that will stay in the truck all the time. Wanted something decent quality and that I wouldn’t be upset if it got stolen.

Then I stumbled on to the gearwrench sale on advance auto parts website. I was going for one of the big sets then just decided to settle for the 1/4” 8800a 22 piece set since it was marked down to $14.99. They wanted $10 shipping until I realized $25 gets you free shipping. So I added the 3/8” set 8801a 20 piece which was marked down to $19.99. So I got both for $35 plus tax, basically added the second one for $10 with the free shipping. We will see how good they are should be fine won’t see a ton of use.

Anyone recommend a small tool box and/or racks for a small set like this.

Those sockets will be fine, and they actually come in pretty nice rails if you're just planning to store them in a bag/box.

I bought several of their socket sets while on sale. For the price I couldn't pass them up. As the other poster mentioned, they already come on a rail. If you want something cheap stop by Harbor Frieght or just pick up a cheap tackle box.

At work we have people with everything from High end toolbox jewelry..to neglected sockets tossed in the service trucks.. As long as fitment is good...they all turn bolts. Gearwrench is good stuff..just dosn't have the overhead to cover..so they dont cost as much..

Thanks for all the info. I bought some of the plastic craftsman racks. They work great only problem they were almost as expensive as what I paid for the sockets!! Luckily I had some points and free cash from sears. Got the sockets and they seem to be pretty good as well. Will get to check out there customer service also my 3/8 set came with two 15mm sockets instead of the 17mm it should have had. So far pretty happy with the combination.
