My current sockets consist of 12pt Craftsman sockets that I was gifted back in the 80's. After a lot of research here, I have started purchasing 6pt Gearwrench socket sets as I've gotten Speed Perks and they've been on sale from Advance Auto. This week, I purchased a 3/8 and 1/4 set. When I got home with them, I was very disappointed in the quality. The chrome was not even, the stamping on the sockets was shallow in some spots. Also, in the 3/8 set, there was a 10mm socket where a 13mm socket should have been. Turns out, both sets were made in China. So, I packed them up and returned them. I went to another Advance location and bought the same sets that were made in Taiwan. The quality of the made-in-Taiwan set is so much better.

I bought a Gearwrench 200~ piece set with cart. Realistically I bought it just for the cart. It was on sale and then clearance. Over 70% off.
The whole thing is ****. I knew the cart would be bad, but the tools are virtually useless. My local (chain) auto store tools and Stanley tools are better than these Gearwrench sockets and wrenches.

Go to HF and look at the Pittsburgh pros chrome sockets. You will be surprised how they look and there taiwan made. I have the sets that come with the comfort grip ratchets (green). Ratchets are great as well. Take a beating right next to my snap-on stuff.
