^ This. Yes, I expect my tools to have a lifetime warranty, but I also expect to rarely have to make use of the warranty. What good is a tool if I'm constantly running out to get it replaced midway through a project? Or busting my knuckles every other week when another one breaks? Give me a tool that has a lifetime warranty because the manufacturer stands behind the quality of their product, not one that has a lifetime warranty because it's more profitable to skimp on production costs and just replace the ones that break. If lifetime warranty is all that mattered then I suppose we could say that Harbor Freight is equal to Snap On, huh? :what:

What if you gotta wait 3 weeks to get a mail in replacement? No really. There's no guy on here (that I know of) that has two complete sets of snap on everything. What's the backup? Probably something not so kosher.:bounce: You bust a snap on axle nut socket what's the backup? Begins with Na ends with pa or worse.

It's advertised as meeting AMSE standards, and it probably did an admirable job meeting those standards until the 18v impact ripped it apart.

American standards that are made overseas as cheap as possible. I warrantied the swivel years ago and now it's just collecting dust in my miscellaneous drawer at home. Sockets aren't bad, not great for daily abuse in a professional working environment. To each there own I guess...

Gearwrench is great stuff. You wont be disappointed.test the warranty by calling the vendors before you buy and pretending to have a problem.gearwrench has been even better than snap on or Matco when warrantied by phone.if coo matters to you that much Armstrong is the only all USA major brand I know of.and I have not been disappointed with pittsburgh pro either.dont trust opinions too much buy singles and try them.I have and been surprised at the results

????? Ive never waited more than a week, stores warranty out gw stuff. Like sears, auto parts stores, tool trucks, wouldnt be a day if you drive, and gw sends them out in less than a week.
Same as SO, matco, and Mac, and there sub companies.

I've bought a few singles to fill in gaps in sets, seem to be fine. The 1/4" drive ones hold up to an 18v Milwaukee impact well.

To the op........since these are not for your primary job. They will do fine. I sold the 60 tooth ratchets right away, since I had snap ons. I have since bought the 120 ratchets and use them everyday. I use my impact sockets first since they are in my toolcart, but the chrome sockets held up decent before I got the cart. I had pittsburg pros at home for my home stuff and I gave them away, the ratchets were decent, but the sockets were garbage.

I'd like to add to this that I got the gearwrench 1/2" drive 6 point deep sockets for Christmas and when I open the socket drawer the finish on these stand out way more then my craftsman, Williams or kobalts. The chrome is so much sharper and brighter. I really like these sockets

I may be to picky but I don't like how loose gearwrench sockets are on the ratchets. I bought the 1/4, 3/8, and 1/2 inch drive sets and all three are extremely loose. It is really apparent when you put a long extension on the ratchet. It looks like the extension is at a severe angle compared to the ratchet. You can also push the socket in and out on the drive and it will move about a 1/16" on the 1/4" drive. I bought the Craftsman 299 piece socket set before buying gearwrench and it had a similar problem so I decided to buy gearwrench after reading a review that said the socket had very little slop on the ratchet. To figure out what was wrong I put one of my USA Craftsman sockets on the gearwrench ratchet and it had a lot less play in it. I am kind of wishing I would have bought the SK sets even though it was over twice as much. I also found that the 1/2" ratchet locks up about every other turn and one of my 1/4" sockets will not go on any ratchet. I am thinking about selling my gearwrench sockets and keeping the ratchets since they seem to be fine. We use a lot of Proto, Williams, and Craftsman sockets at work and I did some testing and none of them have anywhere near this much slop. Has anyone else seen a problem like this.

I've been using the Gearwrench 1/4" and 3/8" Metric sockets for a while now. When I first started I was going to get snap on sockets but now I don't think I'm gonna spend the money. The Gearwrench sockets are great at the price.
