Searched and couldn't find a thread talking about gearwrench specifically so here it is.

Is there anyone who owns these? And what do you think of them? Found the sae/met set for a good price but just curious what people think of them before I make the purchase

I seen them on the tool truck Tuesday, they looked pretty nice to me. I already have some stubby's but the finish looked really good on them.

I have the stubby non-ratcheting metric set for about two years and both sae and metric set of ratcheting stubbies for at least 8-9 years. I have used the non-ratcheting a couple of times - they work fine and look to be pretty well made. I don't think I have ever used any of the ratcheting wrenches. I only look at them when I pull them out and polish them once a year. Oh well, at least they were on sale when I bought them.

I don't understand why the stubby gearwrench's are so expensive when the full size ones are practically give aways.

The ratcheting 20pc mm/sae full size set goes on sale at sears for $50 and sometimes you even get reward points back.

Then I bought the long pattern non-ratcheting wrenches for $99 BOGO and got 2 giant rolls of wrenches. (which had 22 metric and even more SAE if I remember correctly)

For stubbies it is $70 for 20 mm/sae set which is pretty decent (although still crazy compared to the amount of steel you get with the long patterns)

Or

$92 for TEN metric stubbing ratcheting. Say what? Less steel and same ratcheting mechanism cost $184 (for 20pc) compared to the <$50 you spend on the full size 20pc kit.

Sorry for the rant.

I have sunex stubby wrenches and gearwrench ratcheting stubbies. The finish on the gearwrench is much nicer.

For example, I lost an 11mm snap on wrench. I'm not paying over 35 for a tool I rarely use. Bought a gearwrench long pattern and you can't even tell it's the odd one out in the set.

Good stuff, buy it.

It depends on where you shop. I'll tell you that the sets that SEARS pumps out on super sales are not normal Gearwrench quality. You often get what you pay for. :wtf:
Back to the post, Gearwrench stubbies both ratcheting and non ratcheting are great quality and will serve you well. I'm particularly fond of the their flex head ratcheting stubbies. They're not bulky and are well finished.

I have both SAE and metric in fixed and swivel end and when I need them they're the best invention ever :). Also try Napa, they recently ran a smoking deal on them but I don't know if they are still on sale or not. My suggestion if you plan on getting a set is the buy the swivel or flex end, whatever they call them.

Are you asking about gearwrench ratcheting stubbies, or NON ratcheting stubbies?

I have a new set of Gearwrench metric NON ratcheting stubbies that I would sell cheap. PM me if interested...

I have ratcheting stubbies, SAE and metric, used at work (production machine reliability- bearing forging, grinding, and assembly). I cover a lot of ground so often I'll just carry the set instead of pushing my rollaround box, they've held up fine for years of heavy use. Good quality, more affordable than others. Go for it.

the ratcheting, flex head stubbies are fantastic. one of the few tools that has earned 'double' status (for race trailer) with me. the non-flex, non-ratcheting (got them as a throw-in buying some other set) are nice enough for what they are...i just about never use them though. heck, can't remember the last time i pulled any of them out. the flex/ratcheting set - yep, was out yesterday. and will be out again tonight :)
