I've had great luck w/ the Gearwrench sockets, files, reversible ratcheting wrenches, ratcheting T handle screwdriver (though I swapped the shank and bits out for snap on). I do also have a few of their ratchets, they are not as nice as my snap on ratchets, but they are damn close.

They are by far the best value out there.

Shame there from Taiwan.

I have a ton of GearWrench stuff starting with a set of ratcheting wrenches I got for Christmas 10 or 12 years ago. Never had any trouble out of any of it. I have ratcheting straight box end wrenches, x beams, flex heads, etc., etc. in both standard and metric and they're pretty much the only ones I use out of my collection. I have (or maybe had...I may have gotten rid of them) some Mac, Blackhawk, and Bluepoint ratcheting wrench sets and didn't like them as well as their GearWrench counterparts.

I have considered getting the pass through flex head ratchet set but I haven't made up my mind.

Do it... you won't regret it. I bought the $80 set about 4 or 5 years ago when I caught it on sale or used a coupon or something and got it for $40. Best money I've spent on a tool yet. It's certainly no replacement for a regular ratchet and socket, but definitely a tool I feel everyone should have. It may be cheaper now, but I'm not sure as I haven't looked.

Taiwan is China, just an offshoot of it. But it's still part of China.

Wrong.

I hate taking threads off topic for this reason, but this post isn't correct.

Taiwan, also known as the Republic of China, is essentially a separate country from the People's Republic of China. Taiwan and mainland China have been in a dispute for decades.

Long story short, Taiwan is a US ally, a developed country and a real democracy. China, not so much.

I have the GW flex and not flex head ratcheting wrenches and I love them. I also own some Powerbuilt angled, reversible ratcheting wrenches that I like. I think they are a must have for the amateur or professional. Also, my Snap-on guy warranties them when the flex heads get loose of the teeth in the mechanism fail.

I have had some issues with the ratcheting wrenches, my 14mm locks up from time to time, doesn`t seem to take very much torque

The only Gearwrench tool I've broken has been a 13mm ratcheting combination wrench, which Advance Auto swapped out for me. Oddly enough, the only Kobalt and Blue Point tools I've had to warranty were both 13mm ratcheting combination wrenches, so it seems 13mm ratcheting wrenches have a short life in my tool box.

I am a big fan of Gearwrench tools, and own quite a few of their wrench and socket sets. I believe they are one of the best deals going right now, and seem to serve well for both professionals and hobbyists alike.
