Gearwrench torque wrench?

Looking at the Grarwrench flex head 1/2" to replace my 25 yr old Craftsman clicker.
It's been dropped, fell in a drum of oil, handle is held together with super 33 tape... I think it's done it's service.

Need something that'll do around 100-300 ft/lbs as well as torque angle.

Snap On tech angle is nice, but I'm not spending $700 on one. Even $200 on the Gear Wrench stings.

It worth it?

Snap On owns CDI and Norbar and Bahco and Williams.

They make essentially all of their torque wrenches for their different brands at the same factory in California. I've had engineers from that plant in the phone before and they are mighty proud of all their products.

I am not sure if BluePoint torque wrenches are made there, at an overseas SO facility or sourced from another company.

GearWrench is warrantied, is Hobo Fright?

I haven't shopped since the early 2000s, so don't have coupons.

The advantage to me of the HF Icon is that it has a lifetime warranty. Gearwrench probably has a year on its electronic torque wrenches (those that have angle). People post coupons in the coupon section. Might be a 20 or 25% off one that anyone can use after Christmas.

OP is apparently in Alaska, so that's a long drive to a HF store for the easy warranty everyone focuses on. Not saying the GW would be easier for him in case of an issue, but for him it probably wouldn't be any worse.

My 1/4 Gearwrench has been a little futzy. Although gently used, its sometimes a diva and doesn't want to turn on.

My HF rebranded Eclatorq's on the other hand have been much better.

Maybe a rebranded Eclatorq might be the way to go if there is a way to easily warranty up in AK. Maybe a Napa?

Looks like a better deal than the Icon although only has a one year warranty. Icon looks to have a life time warranty. Will note Snap Ons only have a one year warranty, nice drivers excluded.

I almost called you for your input a couple weeks back D. My boy had gotten deeper into Harleys and needed a good TW. I’d gotten a 25% off zoro deal so I ended up getting him a Proto 3/8” swivel head clicker. He was always careful with my tech angles and I considered a digital but this will do everything he needs for a long time.

Anyhow OP, if i remember right the 1/2” ones were about 3 bills. So even a 20% off and free shipping certainly helps.

Strange. On my PC it shows as $495.99 original price directly above the $259. Must be the northern lights up there or something that's wiping out the original price
edit- mine also shows "monthly special" above the "torque wrench...." text.

But yes, $259 is the sale price, which seems like a great deal to me.

I wouldn't buy another one. My snap on tech angle torque wrenches I have at work get way more use and have been working fine for many years now. The snap ons are well worth the price from my experience.
