I bought the 8pc reversible ratcheting wrench set from Advance a couple weeks ago, they are on sale for 29.99.

I used the 12mm for the first time today and the selector likes to change directions on you during use. Unless there's an easy fix, I need to have it warrantied. I need to look the rest of them over closely now, the 19mm had a catch in it but seemed to work itself out.

What has been your experience with the Gearwrench warranty process? Unfortunately the closest Advance to me is 70 miles one way or I'd try that route. I did email Apex but I'm sure it'll be at least a day until I hear back.

I had to send in a ************* allen ratchet, the sockets are very nice but it was a tri wing ratchet and it slipped all the time. Apex took forever to send me a replacement, I think it was 6 weeks maybe 8 max. Got a gearwrench 84t back as a replacement so I was pretty happy besides the time it took.

First two sets I bought had that same problem with the 15mm and 9/16" wrenches. just went back and swapped those wrenches. The rest of the sets and the 2 replacements have been fine. I also bought 2 sets this year for the home box and so far no problems. Advance is very good at taking care of the GW warranty at least the 2 that I frequent are.

bring the whole set in to advance, sometimes if they dont have a single wrench, they will give you all new wrenches in change for yours and send all yours back in the new packaging.

i did this with a 3/8 that locked up.

I hand them to my MAC tools rep. and he orders me a replacement. I don't think he is particularly thrilled about doing this as its kind of a 3rd party deal but I'm sure I spend enough with him to justify it. :dunno:

I got a 10mm stuck on a flanged bolt that I backed out too far and wedged it against something. The only way it would come out was with a lot of force. By the time I got it out, it was locked up. I took it to Farm n Fleet and they replaced it no questions asked. They carry both sets and singles, so they just replaced the one. I was pretty impressed.

I've had warranty issues too, I've gotten to where I don't try to invest too much in any of their stuff so that I don't lose much when they break. From kicking on the warranty to wanting the whole set back, it's always a hassle. I've liked a lot of gear wrench stuff but never had a good run of luck outta their warranty.

They replied this morning and asked me for my address to send a replacement.

Will update when it arrives.

They shipped on 7/28, and I received a brand new 12mm wrench today. Didn't cost me a dime, very pleased.
