Anyone used their wobble extensions? I need a set and am having a lot of trouble justifying $100+ for the Snap On. I can get the 4 piece Gearwrench set of 3/8" extensions for a little less than $17. I've also used regular Gearwrench extensions and had pretty good luck. What's your opinion. Is it worth the extra for Snap On?

I have the Gearwrench in 1/4" & 3/8" drive sets. Broke one of the 3/8" a few years back torquing a U-joint strap when I was working on trucks. Called it in and had a new one within a week, IIRC. Haven't broken one since, and they've saved my *** more than a couple of times.

I'd highly recommend them. I wouldn't personally spend the extra on Snap-on, since the GW sets have been excellent.

I think in 3/8 drive the Gearwrench wobble extensions will serve you well.
I've managed to break SK & Gearwrench 1/4 drive wobble extensions though using hand strength with a Gearwrench 1/4 drive flex head ratchet. :dunno:

I have both the 1/4 and the 3/8 gearwrench wobble extensions. Buy them from advanced auto with a coupon. They're good extensions with nice knurling. I've had no issues and I've used them fairly hard. They'll all break if you put enough force behind them.

I have used the GW extensions, but I own the tekton ones. They actually work very well and I use them as my primary extensions even though I have the straight ones. They're strong enough as well. I haven't had an issue yet. I'd like to get a set of the GW locking extensions though.

WOW!!! The HF ones were ****? Hard to believe that any tool worth less than the effort exerted to open the store door would end up being ****.

I have the GW 3/8" drive 3" wobble. Does what it is supposed to do with a bit of slop at the ratchet but nothing more than what a $2 should do.

The thing I've found with any that I've used is that if you want to use them as a primary extension, some of them don't positively click back to straight and stay. That was my gripe with my tekton set used with craftsman sockets. But using them with my gearwrench sockets/grey pneumatic sockets they stay locked in.

They sell plenty of decent tools. Especially for people on a budget or the DYI'er that won't use the tool much. I know plenty of people on here ride a ridiculous high horse and can't stand to dirty their hands with something that isn't a top tier American made tool. For the more realistic people among that us are attempting to get work done while maintaining a budget often times HF can provide a viable option. However as I stated above this is not one of those cases.

Other than the overpriced WD-40, gorilla glue and the few colors of Krylon they stock they sell nothing but absolute GARBAGE. The place is nothing more than a giant dumpster with operating hours.

Please ban this idiot.

I have the GW in all three sizes. They aren't as nice as my Snap on ones but they didn't cost as much either.

I agree with the "idiot". Moreso every day as the **** I bought there when I was younger breaks when it matters most and costs me money. Nobody with any self respect should submit themself to the horrors found within their doors. Quality tools make everything easier for everyone, professional and hobbiest alike. I don't look down on anyone for buying them, and I don't doubt if you really want to believe they are great you can convince yourself, but you have my pity. If you don't get discouraged by the carnage to your tools and projects you will eventually know better.

so you bought HF stuff when you were younger and it just breaks now? i was a heavy duty mechanic for the last 7 years i have mac matco snap on sk craftsman and some harbor freight tools. they all break. and if youre not too importnat to do a little research youll find that some of the stuff is even worth buying. ie, all earthquake ****, step drill bits, impact sockets, their pro line of ratchets is all stuff that a professional mechanic can use daily with zero issues.

Lol, seems like every "recomend hand tool" thread eventually breaks down to HF vs the world.

Classic...
