Gedore 8140 crimping pliers

Hello everyone!
I recently found a Gedore crimping plier 8140 (Crimp-Zangen in german) and I do not understand why this tool costs so much...

It is not possible to find anyone that did a review on it... only some pictures from the sellers online.

It seems that it has a plastic body and metal inserts for a lot of differente crimping options.


At kctool.com for example you can find it for around 125$ WITHOUT any inserts.







Just out of curiosity, does anyone knows why it costs so much?
Is there a difference between this and a klein tools crimping plier for example?

The Phoenix Contact CRIMPFOX-M looks very similar and I was hoping to find you some related info, but it seems just as hard to find...

A possible low volume quality tool made in a Country, Sweden in this case, with higher labor costs and environmental standards would be my first guess.

Then you add developing, warranty and support cost plus extra for it being sold under a name brand so there are a lot of mouth to feed before it ends up in your bag.

If that all does not matter to you buy a knock off of Alibaba etc..

Damn! Very interesting... Phoenix Contact seems to be a pretty industrial brand. I guess these pliers are meant for industrial use and companies usually have some cash to spend on those xD
Another interesting thing is that the inserts are sweden made, very nice.
I found someone seeling for around 200$ with 7 inserts (including insul, non-insul,RJ45 and Ferrule)
Maybe with all those inserts are worth it?

Maaaaybe, but… if you’re a beginner you probably aren’t going to be able to tell the difference between a good crimper and a bad crimper. (I might even argue that you’re better off learning with a cheap tool, fighting against it, learning some finesse to achieve acceptable results.)

There are some good options available at great prices. For example, the iwiss brand makes some very respectable crimpers for super affordable prices, and they’re available right on amazon

Those Gedores cost like 65 Euros locally. ~150 for the 4-piece set. KC is just too expensive even with import costs factored in. The Pressmaster is roughly in the same price range, maybe a bit more expensive as it is much harder to find and there is far less competition. I think you are better off finding something locally available.

Well... thanks everyone for the comments! Looking for the pressmaster model I was able to also find some videos...
I guess the biggest difference would be only on the crimping movement. It seems that the pressmaster crimps on a parallel action while most of the crimpers I saw was on an angle, interesting. I wonder if that would be better or worse xD

Edit:
The seller told me he is closing his tool shop and this is his last one, so he sent me more +4 inserts... So with all 11 inserts and reputable brand, I went with it!

Hello all! I'm back again...
I did some research regarding crimping ferrules and would like to share what my experience is so far with this tool...
I do not know If I'm doing something wrong but when crimping 2,5mm² ferrules on 2,5mm² cable I can remove by hand the ferrule is this suposed to be like that? It is not that is very easy to remove but if I make some force, especially using pliers it comes out.
Question is, is this tool supposed to "cold join" the wires and make almost impossible to remove? or it is like that, relatively easy with pliers to pull out ferrules? I did not test with "F" crimp or any other type of crimp yet.
