For those of you who don't check the clearance items on the U.S. Gedore web site from time to time here are some of the items I just bought and the prices for them. Pretty reasonable. They have a lot of stuff on clearance. I talked to a guy there named Earl and he said they have a **** load of hammers they are looking to get rid off.

The sockets, wrenches, extensions and locking pliers are discounted about %70 to 75% but they are type NC which means they are electroplated with "Corostop" for marine applications. The NC type coating is about 20% more expensive than standard Ni CR. No shiny chrome here if that's what you want. I personally like the look but some may not. Gedore claims this coating is up to %500 more protective than their standard nickel chrome coating. All wrenches and sockets made in Germany. The pliers in Austria.

The hammers are all rebadged Nupla. Made here in the U.S. I compared prices between the hammers on clearance and the original Nuplas on Amazon and the rebadged Gedore ones were cheaper.

The litle Corolus 1/4" drive socket set isn't very good. Would not recommend. The ratcheting mechanism is very coarse.

The torque wrench was $95. Has dual scales in ft/lbs and Nm. Goes up to 110 ft/lbs. Pretty sweet lil thing and well made.

Nice prices, I wish they'd support paypal. My euro creditcard won't let them deliver to my US address at reship.com :-( ( AVS protection)

How's the quality on that Carolus stuff? I heard it's like the Blue Point of Gedore, so not made in Germany.

I have a couple hammers from the last go round and I find them very effective for hitting things with a lot of force.

The sockets on the Carolus set are ok I guess. The ratchet is atrocious. You can barely turn the drive over with your fingers. Like mentioned in the OP, I would not recommend this particular 1/4" drive Carolus set. Don't have any experience with their other stuff but I think this set is almost the only thing on the clearance rack.
Also, Carolus stuff has no Made in Germany anywhere so probably PRC.

I really like my hammers and 1/2" ratchet from them. The sockets are also very high quality.

I agree. The 1/2" ratchet is super smooth and well finished. Sockets also have good finish.

I picked up a bunch of Gedore tools when they first listed stuff back about a year ago or more. Love the quality of the tools and the coating definitely is way better than chrome

I bought from them before, they are nice tools.

The issues I have with them are:

- The "retail" prices of these tools are ridiculous. Only when they are at clearance price of 60-70% off do they even come into the world of reality.

- The shipping on the website kills the deal if you only want a couple hammers or chisels or something. You have to put in a fairly large order to wash out the high shipping cost.

- The oddball nature of the clearance section makes it difficult/impossible to put together a complete set of anything. You wind up with miscellaneous oddball pieces.

Hmmmm. I paid $17 for shipping for all the stuff in the OP. Look at the invoice.
Not that much if you ask me.

Yes, you put in a large order, to wash out the shipping. Exactly my point.

But if you order one or two pieces, the shipping still cost that much.

Add a single hammer to the cart, and see the shipping cost. Then vary the zip code a bit to be farther away from where they are located, the shipping costs really starts to climb much higher than the cost of the tools.

Oh... And heck.... For $300 bucks I'd expect shipping to be free.

When stuff was 1st put on the clearance section, there were several complete sets. That's how I got mine. 1/2" drive metric 6 point set from 8-34mm with t-handle, extension, ratchet, and a very nice metal case. Got a few hammers, brass punches, 3/8" drive standard socket/ratchet set, a set of screwdrivers, and a few misc other things. The section is really cleaned out compared to what it had in it before.

Tools looked very nice the last time this was posted, but I couldn't justify the shipping mentioned above for just a few items. I tried to pick up a 1lb dead blow hammer and the shipping came out to more than the hammer!
