Was looking up info on dual pawl ratchets and came across this video on Gedore ratchets. It has a center position that lets both pawls engage, locking the ratchet and making it act like a breaker bar. Handy feature when trying to work a bolt loose. I like the low backdrag on ratchets with this style of dual pawls. I also notice the Gedore has the cam on the switch above the pivot pin, compare that to the Pittsburgh that has the cam below the pivot pin. This fixes the complaint about the select switch being "reversed". If HF decides to make a Pittsburgh Pro Ratchet 2.0, maybe they could incorporate these features and fix the backwards switch. In the meantime, are there any other ratchets that have a locking pawl feature like the Gedore?

(about 2:00 mark)

This Aluminum Gedore I have has that lockout feature. Feels very solid. It's the only ratchet I have with a 3 position switch.

CDI has this feature on their micrometer clicker torque wrenches. That's the first time that I experienced it, and I "discovered" it by accident.

The feature should be handy for rocking fasteners on-off, but it won't add strength. I wouldn't avoid it, but I wouldn't shop for it.

I have one of those Gedore 1/2 ratchets and I never use that centre lock and often engage it by accident. The same socket set that it came in came with a breaker bar so I'd imagine it's it's for cases where you have space and lots of thread to turn when it becomes quicker to not use the ratchet function. I use my ampro ratchets as breakers sometimes though as I don't respect them quite as much as my Gedore ratchets.
