Welcome to the forum.

I am very pleased with my Gedore sockets. They're from the 80's so may not be indicative of todays quality but judging from various german forums either brand will serve you very well.

Beware of Hazet fakes.

Hazet can be bought from members jensputzier and Alx.

The guys on here that sell Hazet have good competitive pricing. Years ago when I worked for a few different textile machine manufacturers I was able to acquire Hazet, Heyco, Stahlwille stuff at really nice prices. Some of what I have is almost 20 years old and still going strong.

If it was a choice between the two I'd pick the Hazet. I've got a few Gedore tools I've picked up over the years, they're o.k. but not top end. Some of the wrenches have quite a rough finish. I bought a 1/4 inch drive ratchet , sliding t, sockets and extensions a couple of years back and they were finished o.k. but were fairly lightly built compared to others, and didn't fit together very rigidly. A couple of guys I work with have said Gedore are much better at making the bigger stuff! Maybe?

I havn't got much Hazet, only a couple of larger wrenches and a socket set I keep on my car, but it's all top end, really solid, and I'd buy more! Very consistently finished too, the wrenches I got are almost identical to ones my Dad got 30 years ago!

Agree with previous poster though, I'd probably prefer Stahlwille overall. I've got a fair amount of that and it's great. Satin finished, rather than the matt and polished of the Hazet, and equally tough! Doubt you'll be disappointed with either!

Hey, I see NC as your location. I still work in the mills, fixing on Dorniers and Staublis. I know Dornier has a service facility in Charlotte, and I think Staubli is in Greenville or Spartanburg...I have a few old manuals that suggest there were at one time similar facilities run by Grosse and Unirapid in the area. I, too, have a lot of Hazet and Stahlwille, especially. Don't see any new Heyco these days; all mine is handmedowns from the older guys. Knipex has gotten big with our suppliers in the past decade.

To the OP, I've never used a Gedore socket. The only new Gedore I have is a set of ignition wrenches. If they are any indicator, their product is top notch. Be careful buying old Gedore, a lot of it was made in India and is complete junk. I do have a few Hazet sockets, and they're incredibly strong. Up there with, or surpassing, Snap-On quality.
