no offense, but how are these deals, and why post if they're not?

^ unless they are made of cardboard, ANY six chisels for under $20 bucks is a deal. the hammer is just the cherry on top.

I don't need any more pliers.
Also if they are made in Germany as the pic shows. Any other German brand is going to be $20/one chisel. Gedore Red is questionable for COO. Worth a shot for $20 and if India, send'em back.

I have several of the similar pliers and use the poop out of them. Mine are from Old SAAB car trunk tool kits found in junkyards. Also have a Stahlwille. Great design and one handed close. AND they do not bite or pinch you if ya slip.

Looks to me the 12in IS a deal looking back 2 years.

$3 off a gedore red pliers is something to jump on? :headscrat

also, not sure if you're aware, but i think that's just for the handle. i almost bought one until i looked closer and double checked the model number.

unless you're saying they ship the hammer by mistake? because that would be a pretty good deal. i have one of those hammers and like it. i'd get a couple at that price for sure.

Yeah that pic of the hammer is very misleading at best.

Don't care what the Camel Keepers say..... Awesome deal
i'm with you that $20 for a hammer and chisel set (especially if made in germany) is a good deal. it's just that it's a multi-year, all-day deal and not really a ★★ Hot Deal ★★.

Photo on Amazon page shows "Germany" stamped on chisels. Below in the "item details" it says Country of Origin is Taiwan.
Amazon page shows hammer @ 300 grams / 10.58 ounces.
That's one awfully light hammer, unless the handle is balsa.

I Read some reviews. I posted a screenshot of one with pics.
It's Amazon, if not up to expectations or misleading, send'em back.

I wouldn't have seen it.
Not like I need more chisels... I bought a couple dozen about two months back.
I read half a dozen of the reviews - every one I saw said "made in Germany". Go figure.

Agree. I too believe it is a deal. It comes in a nice box suitable for gifting. Some mention that they arrive in a less than desirable condition. Be sure to execute the option to ship in Amazon packaging. Otherwise, you risk damage to the box, contents and or missing pieces. I ended up gifting a few of these "Red", $13.00-$19.00 hammers of differing weights as well and all were Made in Germany.

Isn't it Ash? They make them in this series up to 1000 grams or about 2 1/4 pounds. The ones I bought had Made in Germany stickers on them.

ETA Link:

Amazon usually has a 800 Gram as well....

I bought the chisel set awhile back and all were made in Germany. A great deal. In general, I never trust the COO on Amazons listings, because they have been wrong many times in my experience. I don’t think it’s malicious, because it goes from good to bad as often as it goes from bad to good, if there are good and bad Coo’s. There are also many listings with non-matching pictures, descriptions, data tables, shipping weights… it can all be wrong, and frequently is. What has been consistently true is if I don’t like what I get I can send it back without hassle at no charge. The 4 oz hammer/ handle, whatever it turns out to be is problematic because it’s sold and shipped from a third party. There is also a delivery charge at least for me, and it might even ship from Germany. Returns can be more of a hassle to 3rd parties in my experience. I think we should let everyone decide for themselves what’s a deal, but I understand wanting to protect someone from overpaying, the discussion clogs up threads in my opinion.

The chisel set is Germany.

Most (but not all) of the Gedore Red line is Taiwan.

I got the cantilever tool box and it’s India if I recall correctly.

For shits and giggles I’ve been assembling a Gedore tool kit for the family lakehouse. I’ve picked up several Gedore tools. Other than me no one else has any Gedore tools so I’ll be able to readily identify should they make it into my brothers toolbox.

Received my stuff today.
Hammer & chisels are Germany
Pliers are China (Amazon said Taiwan)

I’ll probably return the pliers
Just another confirmation - same here, China pliers sadly and Germany hammer/chisel set
I am keeping the pliers but will not be buying any more - fit and finish is medicore (just not worth the hassle time to return for my situation)

Contemplating anotehr set of chisels with next order from amazon though

The Gedore 500g hammer is a nice upgrade to the chisel set. $13.46 for the hammer. COO on Amazon is Taiwan, hammer has a sticker that says Germany. However, the hammers do not say Germany on them except the sticker. I have my doubts, but it is a better size than the 300g in the chisel set.

The "Made in Germany" label does not necessarily mean the majority content, raw materials, assembly and final finishing is done in Germany. They are pretty loose with that label over there and many of the German brands have initial stage manufacturing done in Eastern Europe locations.
