Gedore wrenches W/BS

Was looking through some old tools and forgot I had these lol. Looks like maybe a set of open ends and a set of box in W. The open ends are labeled W/BS which is cool too. I think I got these from my wifes grandpa who used to work at the Bendix plant in South Bend probably in the 50’s-80’s.

Gedore still offer the box ends, and at least one style of open ender, in Whitworth. The finish though, certainly on the box ends, isn’t up to the standard of yours.

Chances are the old fellow liked to work on British cars and/or motorcycles.

Nice sets of good quality German made wrenches there. I have a few odd ones of those types. Gedore are still in business of course, i bought a new little Gedore DOE wrench only recently for a tractor tool kit.

There is some story I have heard about Gedore in WW2, the guy who originally told me is long gone RIP and I can't find it on the web any more. The gist of the story is that the manufacturing plant pretty much escaped damage from Allied bombing, and I remember seeing one of those photos taken from an aeroplane showing the factory with GEDORE in huge writing painted on the roof, and devastation all around it with other surrounding buildings and railway tracks destroyed.. Surely we didn't miss it on purpose because of love for their tools ?!
