So with the arrival of a Snap-on stubby ratchet I just got from member wrenchr, I took a quick inventory:

In the main box, I've got:
Snap-on stubby,
Snap-on fine-tooth pear head (1953 with with a new kit--I restored this one and it looks really nice)
Snap-on regular pear head
Snap-on quick-release pear head

Craftsman Pro long flex-head with hard handle
Craftsman raised-panel with Plasti-dip handle to protect paint during final assembly.

In the roadtrip/junkyard box, I've got a Craftsman Pro, and a raised panel long flexhead ratchet.

A year ago, I didn't own a single Snap-on ratchet, now I have four, all different.
Plus a long-handle 1/2-inch ratchet.

Geeze...

I was looking at my ratchet drawer the other day thinking the same thing.

The following

Snap On FL80
Snapon F80-2
Snapon FBF80
Snap on Fk80
Matco BFR128LFT
Matco BFR128T
Matco BFR58FT
GW Stubby,

Thats like 9 3/8 Ratchets, that doesn't include the craftsman in the travel box. I bet that is 6 or 7 more.

That's it? Did someone steal the rest of your 3/8 ratchets?

I think I have 6 or 7 different SO 80 tooth ratchets in my 3/8 drawer....then the other misc ones like Cman stubby flex, SK rotohead and a slew of others. You can never have too many and I know alot of people put my grouping to shame.

3/8 in 1/4 body?

I have a 1/2" in a 3/8" body that always leaves people scratching their heads. But it is handy at times.

You can NEVER have too many ratchets.

Like NASA's mantra of "triple redundancy" , you can never have too many options or too many back-ups.

Trust me.

You're just dipping your toe in the water right now. Save your money and continue to buy GOOD ratchets and soon you'll be waist deep.

LOL .

nice start OP but the answer the topic of the thread.....all of them

LOLOLOLOLZZ.
I just spit my coffee out dammit.

I STILL remember that poll that someone did last year.

"You need both"

and

"All of them"

are still the legit answer to most GJ questions.

Sad but true. Your wallet may cry, but the truth hurts.
It really does.

the truth does hurt and I keep telling myself "this is the last one I'll need to buy". That committment lasts about as long as it takes a tool company to come out with a different or "new and improved" version of a ratchet or for me to discover one that I don't have. It's a damn sickness. I just hope they never find the cure for it! :spit:

It's simple, really ; any good deal that's worth justifying the ratchet purchase makes the ratchet 100%, completely necessary...lol :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

I've thinned out my drawer over the recent couple years (but I wish I hadn't.....:()

If I can buy a yard sale ratchet for less then what a cup of coffee at the local drive thru java hut costs,it comes home with me every time.
I currently have 16 in 3/8'ths drive soon to be 15 with secret santa gifts and a new acquisition counted in.
And since when does "need" have anything to do with it?:bounce: you sound like my wife

Im to lazy to get all my rats out for a pic. I think I have at least 150 or so. I guess thats how many it takes to fill a whole rollaway bottom chest about 2 deep. Ive only been collecting for about 2 years. Youll be suprised how many you can find if your hitting about 6 or so garage sales a week and a barn or estate sale here and there. I usually only pay 1 to 5 bucks for a nice working rat.

I don't have a pic handy, but I've got 90+ ratchets. Most of them are 3/8 drive. Some people buy lottery tickets. I buy used American steel! :bounce::bounce:

I don't like duplicates because I'm not that organized.
I have an SK 7.5" that came with a set. I have an SK 3870 Dad gave me new.
I have another SK 3870 that was Grandpa's.
And then a SO 10.5" breaker bar.

Lots of ratchets here, but I don't believe I have seen any indexing ratchets. This one isn't mine, but one saved my **** on an exhaust header install a few years back.

For 3/8" Ratchets I probably have about 5 total, I only keep two in my main toolbox.

Tool box has:
Snap on Dual 80
Cman Thin Profile

And I would like to add

A soft grip gearwrench
Armstrong Flex
