Hey guys. New to the forum. Kept searching for Curtis compressors and this forum kept coming up, so I thought I'd join. Seems like a great community.
I've recently purchased (but not yet acquired) what I believe to be a Curtis C90 compressor. Guessing probably the 70s. It has a Marathon motor on it w/ the 184T frame, 5hp, 3ph, 1745rpm. I'm trying to match up the same motor, but in 1PH. I tracked down a pretty decent Baldor motor w/ the exact specs except the RPM. The rpm on the Baldor motor is 1720rpm. I don't know a huge amount about the subject, but the difference is small in my opinion. I know i could compensate by changing the pulley size, but that's not happening. So if the 1720rpm won't work, I'll just keep looking. What's your thought on this, 1720rpm acceptable or should i keep looking for the 1745rpm motor? What kind of negative effects will I see (longer to fill the tank, decrease CFM, etc).
Thanks
Peter
