Does anyone have any experience with General brand tools or their belt sander line?

I am looking at a General 6x89 belt sander for my shop. It has a nice 1.5hp motor.

I have been using a much much smaller craftsman 4x36 combo and it has bit the dust, so im thinking of going super overkill and getting this big sander.

I do mostly metal work and lots of larger diameter, thin wall tube work so the metal sanders in my price range with 3" wide belts wouldnt work well for me.

Same as the Jet, runs on 220 or 110, it is a horse moves material. I use mine on metal projects. See the welders magnet caches the metal works great.

General makes good stuff. Only downside IMHO is their prices aren't the greatest. You could always build one.

General equipment used to be made here in Quebec, Drummondville to be exact. Their table saws were better than the Delta. Now their tools are imported like many other manufacturers. Any product with the name General International is imported. I think they are very careful with their reputation and are producing quality products offshore.
