my wife and i just bought a house about 6 weeks ago. moved in the day after we bought it. we've done a bunch of work since, like removing dog pee stained carpets to find hardwood floors underneath. we also found out that dog pee is a good floor stripper...
anyway, with the little post war ranch came a slightly oversized 24x24 2 car detached garage, with a 40x60 shop attached to the back. the left side of the back wall of the original garage was cut through to make a passageway, and a large overhead door put in to the left of that which opens onto the patio (weird, but whatever)
since the purchase 6 weeks ago, i have been on the road for about 3 weeks for work. but i have managed to get some stuff moved in, and i have managed to make the 2nd floor of the shop into a functioning art studio. i still have a couple cars and a bunch of parts spread around at other places that i hope to get home soon. and i have a ton of organizing to do. lots of work to make it mine. but i do have my priorities in order. my 1948 kelvinator fridge is ready to go...
so, enough words, here are some pics.
the small garage
the passage from little to big
inside the main shop
from the stairs to the studio
the kelvinator...
and a shot from the back, looking at the big door and the pass through to the little garage, and the stairs up to the studio.
and on to the studio:
the front room, as yet empty, but will be gallery space, general hanging out space, etc. this is probably about 20x16
the middle room, this'll be flat storage for papers, maybe space for screenprinting. this room is about 12x12, and has a full bath and a mini kitchen off to the left.
and the main workspace, with my presses and worktable and orange crate shelf storage. this space is about 20x16
that does it for now. lots of work to do to make it mine. but i think i can get used to it...
