Guys I appreciate the advice. I really do but I think you are going in circles there.

I think we can all agree that backfeeding is bad and we shouldn't do it regardless of the dangers. I promise I will NOT do it.

I still have a few questions

1)can't I just use 4 wire cable for the cord from the plug to the panel? What did the other poster mean when he said 10/4 for one part and 10/3 for the other or did I misread that.

2)So the equipment I will need is an interlocking kit, about 50 feet of 10/4 cord, the PB 30 amp box, dual pole 30 amp breaker.

You can't use cording between the generator inlet and the panel for the same reason you can't use cord for any other household circuits.

Why would someone giving free power away to the neighbors during an outage upset you so much?

I deleted both of my posts to prevent this thread from getting axed and that's all I have to say

I suggest you do the same out of respect for the forum, but you're free to do as you see fit

No arguments on the forum. If you intend to use a Gen Set do so with safety as your No 1 consideration. Set it up the correct way the first time as per the regulations for electrical wiring in your location and if it has to be done by a registered electrician then so be it.
