This is not the tools forums, but I think I made out OK today...

Picked up 2 reels of 12 AWG 500ft , and 4 reels of 10AWG 500 stranded for a WHOPPING $250....all USA UL wire.

Yeah, I'd say so considering that homedepot prices for all that wire would be almost $570+tax! Where did u get the great deal?

But i gotta ask- why so much wire? This is all for a generator feed?? :dunno:

Some guy on CL. I believe his uncle or something was a broker. He just mentioned leftovers on a job bid.
The Dude had other stuff in his place...include one big wooden reel of 12/2 or 12/3. I'm talking the 3 foot diameter reels.

I dunno. Figure retail is at least 200% so there is still some profit to be made...

I needed a 500ft spool of 12 between the transfer switch and panel. 10 runs at roughly 10-15 feet each. The run from my transfer switch to the inlet is going to be about 50 feet. 4 Rolls of 10AWG - 100 feet would have ran me $175-$180 ish retail. By the time you add in the 12AWG, the $250 I spent today seemed like a OKAY deal..

I've got his contact info and might send him a shopping lists - as I've got a bathroom renovation planned for this summer, and some more odd/ends.

12ga wire run hundreds of feet? If used as Class 2/3 low-voltage controls that will work, but for power distribution the voltage drop will be horrendous!

Heh. I had to share, as I RARELY get any ~deals~ with any renovation, remodeling project related. It's always the opposite. A vanity cabinet from my cabinetmaker, 2K. Vanity Mirror 1,200. And the list goes on.
