Hey all:
I am going to run a generator interlock on our 200A box feeding the house. I have a CH-Eaton box with lots of space to grow and move things (where needed).
I have an outlet box where I will be able to plug my generator into. I will be running 8-3WG wire from the plug to the CH box; where it will be connected to the feed the house off the generator when the power goes out.
My question is: I have 18 feet of 8-3WG wire from the plug, but I need about 10 more feet of wire to get into the box with some margin. Am I OK to do a junction box and connect the 10 feet of wire to get to the box? Or; do I have to buy 28 feet of 8-3 WG to do this job? In the end, if I have to start fresh with a new length of wire, it will not be the end of the world, but if I don't need to buy more material than 10 feet of wire, than this will be a rather cost effective job.
