Generator outlet question

I have a co-axial cable coming through the wall in the living room that I plan to move. I was thinking about trying to find or making an outlet that I can plug a drop cord into from a generator to power the outlet in case of a bad snow or ice storm knocks out the power.

Has anyone seen something like this?

Not "legal". "Cordage" (the industry term for extension cord wire) never allow in a permanent/inside of a wall installation.

Not sure how useful one outlet would be, but it is better than none. You can install the box and run NM-B to an outside male 120VAC (NEMA 5-15) weatherproof inlet (Reliance PB15) and plug the generator into that.

I think that since the coax goes through the wall, that's where the generator box would be mounted. Kind of a pass-thru. Generator plugged in on one side, outlet on the other.,

Oldwizard that is what I was looking for. As for how useful it would be, we don't really have enough ice and snow for it to be a real problem. We did have a good one where the power was out for about 4 days. We have a big genny and a little one. The little one we ran a drop cord through the door and duct taped the draft so we could use a hot plate and have a light on. I'd probably use a power strip into the outlet to run the booster so we'd have phone service.

B-Boy yeah thats what it is. I have a cell phone booster coming through the wall with a plate on the wall so I was going to do a double box.

It's really just one of those "good" ideas you have the shower and think well that might work!
