Generator Panel Feed Question

I have a 200amp Main breaker panel in the garage and a disconnect on the other side of the house where the meter is located. I plan on using a Interlock kit to isolate the panel as well as use the disconnect on the other side to protect the grid side. I have a Wacker G25 20KW diesel genset that I use for work and plan on bringing it home for emergency backup power during storm season. The Genset has two 240V 50amp twist locks with separate 50 amp breakers and one set of 240V lugs protected by a 70 amp breaker. The dual plugs give 100 amps, and plug and the lugs could give 120 amps.

Backfeeding to the panel using a 50amp plug and with a backfeed breaker is easy. Any reason not to provide a second plug to another 50 amp breaker for dual feeds into the panel for 100 amps? Hardwiring off of the lugs to a disconnect would only lend 70 amps off the main.

The house pulls 77amps with both AC's running (everything but the dryer and oven).

A 20KW generator is not gonna give you 100a @ 240v. Its about 83... so ask yourself if the expense of an addl 50a feed is worth the extra 30a capacity you can get...

do you really need to run 77a worth of load during an outage? Thats gonna **** down a lot of fuel...

We are living in a fairly rural area and power outages during storm events can last days or even weeks. At 90 degrees and 90% humidity running the A/C some makes life a little better. I don't need all the power it can put out, I just want be able to use all it can put out if I choose.

What are the 80-100 amp plug options?

In the interest of fuel conservation you may decide to accept a lower level of comfort. Do you need to Air Condition the whole house?

You could also do what I did and get a few Mini Splits to cover the important areas. Not only do they use 10x less power and keep the room at a constant setpoint, but now you have redundant air conditioning

If my main AC fails, I wouldn't even care.

I keep my bedroom at 68 at night when it's 85 out, and it just sits there using 200-300w of power (And my insulation *****)
