Not sure what my best options on using a backup generator would be.

I have a 400a main panel with 2 200a. One feeds to the panel, the other to a 200a sub panel about 150ft away. SU3040D400CB

I picked up a generac backup generator cheap, so was hoping to use it.

the transfer switch is model RSXW200A3 which is rated 200a

Was thinking on connecting this to feed the sub panel circuit.

My only issue is I have 1 circuit on my main panel for my fridge that I would also want backed up.

Not sure if there Is a way to add just this one circuit to the mix, or do I need another transfer switch for just this one circuit?

Any ideas? Or do I have to bite the bullet for a 400a transfer switch?

Can't you pull wire to the other panel for the freezer? That would be the easy answer. Then stay with the 200 amp transfer and power just the one panel with the generator.

i am thinking this might be the route i have to go to simplify things. There is a circuit for the microwave that is also 20a that is on the same wall, think i may be able to swap the wires in the attic by adding some boxes up there to re-route them. i can live without the microwave in an outage more than the freezer.
